Quinn was so excited when I picked him up from school today. Seems he's the Star Student, and he got to bring Clifford (the not so big red dog) home for the weekend. He chatted ALL the way home about how it was a girl who was the Star last, and so now it's a boys' turn. He had frequently commented that he didn't know when his turn would be and that he thought he would be last. He has kept us informed as to who has already been the Star, who still has to be the Star- important stuff in the life of a kindergartener. Finally... it happened...he's the Star...it's his turn, and that boy is happy as a clam! We wrote a "book" about our adventures tonight (and it's only Friday, and boring at that), and I am sure we will continue to document every moment Clifford has in our house. I love his enthusiasm though!
Quinn asked me to make a pillow and blanket to go with Clifford-he doesn't want him to get cold, or have his head be uncomfortable-he's just that way, sweet boy. He chose fuzzy fabric for the back, and fabric with flames on it, for the front.
Ever so carefully, Quinn added the pillow and blanket (folded I'll have you know) to Clifford's crate. He's going to be a great dad someday!

Artful Day
This is what we did today.
We used these acrylic paints and real artist canvas frames.
Quinn painted Godzilla with bloody teeth (Ew. Not sure I want to know what "Zilly" had been eating). He's a big fan of Godzilla these days, although he's never seen any of his movies.
Riley went more for the abstract. Can't you see this on a museum wall? He was quite serious about his art. You can't see it, but he even has the paint texture on his art (although I don't think that was done on purpose, but hey, it works!)
Here are all of them together. Kevin's is the top left, a beach scene, and mine is the orange house. Look closely and you can see the texture on Riley's art.
The boys really enjoyed using the canvas-I think they really felt like real artists. We are going to hang them up in the hall, on our own museum wall.

Mental Health Day-a bust
Well, I took Friday off as a "mental health day." I had all of these plans to do some shopping free of children (personal or otherwise). It was a big bust. Turns out, I was sick. I went to see the doctor instead. I had been dizzy for about a week, and felt horrible-had a horrible head cold last weekend. Turns out I have Vertigo, caused by an inner ear infection, which is caused by a virus (ah ha!!). Needless to say, I just layed low, took a nap, overdosed on HGTV and TLC. BUT, the good news is I was feeling sort of better on Saturday, so I went to the rubber stamp show, and as luck would have it, there was also the Creative Crafts Fair, so I went there too-picture me jumping and clapping. I bought stamps, material, patterns, etc. AND, on the way home, I stopped at the new Homegoods/TJMaxx store and got those really cute mugs you see in the picture. I guess I made up for my "mental health" day afterall. Today, I feel better. The dizziness is gone, or else the world stopped moving around on me.

100th Day of School

Home Day
This is where we have been all day. It was nice. The boys and I were out of school today for Staff Development. I did not have to go as I have already completed my hours, so we spent the entire day at home. Riley played with the neighbor for awhile. Quinn played with his Pixar Cars cars. They both played on the computer, played in their tent, played outside (the weather has been GREAT this weekend-in the mid 60's), well, you get the picture. Me? I cleaned my craft area, overdosed on HGTV, TLC and DIY, updated my blog, worked on the computer, cleaned the house, did laundry etc. It was a great day!! I really wish I could do this everyday!!

Happy Birthday!
Sunday, February 3, 2008
I woke up this morning to the boys playing in Quinn's room. When I went in, the music from Pirates of the Caribbean was blasting, and they had created the Disneyland ride using Quinn's Playmobil toys. How cute is this??? See the ship (the Black Pearl) and all of the animatronic pirates? Clever. Yes, we are Disney geeks.
