Disneyland or Bust

Quinn and I were out the door at 7:18 this morning! We made excellent time getting to Anaheim. There was very little traffic, at least until we hit the vicinity of Los Angeles. Even then, it slowed in one part where 5 merges with 10 and 60 to Pomona comes in, but after that, it was fine. It took exactly 6 hours. We are staying in a big castle. I'll have to post the picture tomorrow. We were in Disneyland by 1:30 pm. We rode Pirates of the Caribbean, and got a snack. We wandered around a little, and then headed over to Disney's California Adventure (DCA). It was HOT. Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler.
This is part of Glow Fest. It makes a nice colorful background for Mr. Quinn.
Tower of Terror! Quinn has promised to ride this with me tomorrow. It's an awesome ride.
Quinn, enjoying Flik's Flyers, in A Bug's Land.
The view of the lake etc. from the newly built plaza. This is where we will watch World of Color tomorrow night if I successfully secure us some fast passes.

This is also for World of Color. Isn't it cool?

More Disney tomorrow. The park opens at 8:00 am! We'll be there bright and early-it's the BEST time to ride rides, as it's a lot less crowded. Any answers to my picture problem from yesterday? You all are missing out on some more pictures.

Riley left this morning for Scout camp. They were going to some fort first, for the night, and then tomorrow they will make it to their camp. He had to be at the Scout House by 7 am. He didn't complain to us once about that, but apparently let loose his complaints about the early hour, to our dental hygienist on Wednesday. After he left, I tried to go back to sleep, but was unsuccessful, as was Kevin. Quinn slept until 9:15 am! This is good though, because I am dragging him out of bed early tomorrow as he and I are headed to Disneyland. When we were eventually dressed, we took Quinn and Maya to the dog show in Niles.
Historic Niles District. There are lots of antique shops here. Look at how brown those hills are now! They get really green in the winter. For proof, CLICK HERE.
Apparently there's a rather large park in Niles. Who knew? We never knew this park was there! There are tennis courts, a play structure, and lots and lots of grass! Today they hosted the dog show.
Check this car out! Pretty cool.
There were lots of dogs. I know my pictures don't really depict that, but I felt weird taking pictures of other people's dogs. I'm not sure what Maya is doing in this picture. Kevin put her in the water, but she didn't really dig it too much, which surprised us as she LOVES a bath. She quite enjoyed sniffing the butts of other dogs, peeing, pooping, and sniffing every single blade of grass. Yeah she had a good time.

They also had the Doggie Diner heads! These heads make their way around the area. We've seen them at the fair too. They are always cool for a photo opportunity. We almost had two extra kids in the picture, as it took their parents forever to corral them out of our picture.

It was a really beautiful day today. It was hardly hot, but our house was like an oven-we didn't run the AC today. We came home and Maya passed out, exhausted, next to me on the couch.

I have a question for any of you folks on Blogger: How do I change the number of pictures I can post? Blogger will only let me post 5 pictures a post, and sometimes I want to post 6. I know it can be done. I've read plenty of blogs, on Blogger, that have more than 5 pictures posted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll see you tomorrow from the Happiest Place On Earth!

A Fabulous Friday

Quinn had to return to the dentist this morning for sealants. They tried to put them on Wednesday, after his cleaning, but his mouth was tired already, so we opted to go back and have our regular hygienist do it for Quinn, today. She was quick, and he is all sealed against cavities. I made a trip to Jo-Ann's after I dropped Quinn off at home, and then spent the rest of the afternoon at home.
I made this bracelet, which was inspired by my Stella & Dot bracelet. I am pleased with how it turned out. I got a new beading book, and there were directions in there on how to make it. I am working on a bracelet made with sequins next. I have all kinds of different shaped and colored sequins. There are also directions in my new book.
Quinn and I picked up this game at Toys R Us today. It's Cuponk. It required 3 AAA batteries, and we only had 2, so we made a trip to Target after dinner. Oh, the batteries make the cup light up and make noise WHEN you get the ball inside.
Here's Quinn giving it a try. It's tricky. It's a lot like the college game "Quarters," but without the beer. It comes with cards that have challenges on them. Quinn was quite disappointed that we don't have stairs, as there was a card requiring them. Oh well, someday he can buy a house with stairs.

I also started my Slow Summer Stitching project that I am doing thanks to Artsy-Crafty Babe.
I have only just started. I think I am going to make a pillow out of it when it's finished.

Riley leaves for Scout camp early tomorrow morning. He is pretty excited. We are going to take Quinn to a dog show in Niles, and then he and I leave for Disneyland on Sunday. Whoo hooo!!

She's Crafty!

I was semi-productive today. I cleaned the house at least, did some laundry and ran the dishwasher. I was able to do some crafting though. I posted these pictures on Facebook, and one of my friends posted a link to the Beastie Boys song, "She's Crafty," and it's stuck with me all day.
I didn't paint these guys. These are Quinn's. He got them for Christmas, in his stocking. I forgot to take pictures of what I painted, before I started, so I am using these as an example. The dolls I painted started out nude, like these guys.
This is when I remembered I wanted to take pictures of them before I painted them. I actually may have a picture of them. I bought them last summer, in Alaska.

These are my finished matryoshka dolls. I am happy with them.

By the way, I changed the way comments are left. I keep getting spam as comments, and I don't want to. If you want to leave a comment, please do, but I am monitoring all of them to get rid of the spam.

Commercial Fun

We all went to Target tonight, after dinner. Quinn filmed two commercials. The first one was for Lay's Potato Chips, but something went wrong when I thought I filmed it, and it's lost. Bummer. I will have to take him back for a do-over. The second one he did, with Riley as "director" and Kevin filmed it. Here it is...

Monday, Monday

Our regularly scheduled summer is back in progress. Kevin went back to work today, and the boys and I busied ourselves with our normal summer activities. I ran a few errands-Michael's (I got a stencil for the Slow Summer Stitch Along I am participating in). I went to Macy's and I went to Target. I was so excited to go to Target. It had been awhile. However, it was not an enjoyable visit. I was almost run down (in the crosswalk) by a guy in a Mercedes who refused to stop for me, and then I had to deal with a screaming kid in Target. That kid was so freaking loud. I have no patience for unruly children in public. He could be heard all over the store! At one point the mother and sister had him on the ground, wrestling with him-nice. They put him in a shopping cart but he kept shrieking. He wasn't crying, just screaming at the top of his lungs at regular intervals. He was like 5 years old too! The mother shushed him a zillion times, but she was ineffective. It was really annoying and wrecked my Target Mojo-and probably everybody else's too. I may need to go back tomorrow, for a redo.
Quinn did some painting today. He painted a ceramic cupcake. He also has a gnome to paint.
Ta da! What a yummy looking cupcake. I'm wondering if it's huckleberry. We had lots of huckleberry stuff on our vacation. So yummy! We came home with some huckleberry jam.

Quinn also played some dress-up. I'm not sure what or who he is here. At one point he was a ninja, using his Darth Vader costume on backwards. He gave up when he didn't have the proper masking for his face.

Riley's gearing up for Scout camp. He's looking forward to it. He has to be packed by Thursday, with his gear dropped off at the Cubmaster's house sometime that day. They leave at 7 am Saturday morning. Any guesses on if he'll shower or change his underwear?

Sunday, Relaxing Sunday

Quinn and I didn't leave the house at all today. In fact, he never even got dressed. I at least showered. It was a low-key, come down from vacation day. Riley had a scout thing he had to do for most of the day, and Kevin went to the grocery store, but other than that, not much else was going on. I read, I facebooked, I played Angry Birds, I looked at my Blythe doll pattern, I ordered iPhone 4g cases, Kevin ordered me an iPhone 4g, Quinn played on the computer, we watched iCarly...well, you get it right? It was great.
I even cooked dinner! Chili tacos. This recipe is in my Weight Watchers Cook It Quick! book. It was really easy to make, and it smelled really good too, and it was low in calories. There's a ton of it, so we have dinner tomorrow night as well. It was nice to eat a home-cooked meal after eating out for 11 days.
My tacos look thrown together. I need little stands to hold the taco shells up-they would photograph so much better.
I spent a lot of time playing this on my phone today. It's Angry Birds, and if you have an iPhone, here's a warning: It's VERY addictive! You have to launch these birds and try to smash those green guys. The birds do different things, but you have to use the birds provided.
This is from before I went on vacation, but I couldn't share it then. I made this bag for a friend who is having twins very soon. Her shower was on Saturday, so I wanted to wait until she actually got the bag, before I blogged it.

The bag is made from a Anna Maria Horner pattern. I've made a ton of those bags. They are easy, and I love them. I especially love the four outside pockets.

I think I will venture out tomorrow. Any guesses on where I shall go????
