Macworld 2010

Kevin, the boys, and I headed out this morning, for San Francisco. We went to Macworld. For those of you not familiar with Macworld, it's a big show which focusses everything on Mac (Apple computer) products. iPhone stuff, iPod stuff, Apple computer stuff, etc. It was really crowded. We went to the expo part. Kevin went yesterday and listened to some of the speakers/presenters. He took the boys today to see a panel of people-one of which is from Myth Busters. Both boys are NUTS about Myth Busters. Anyway, there were lots of products to be had. We picked up info on some iPhone apps (Slingshot Cowboy-sooooo much fun), and we bought a Mophie juice pack, which is a case for the iPhone that charges it. It doubles the battery life. Awesome huh? It's perfect for Disneyland!!
Riley and Quinn with "Entourage(?)" I think that's what Kevin called her. Apparently she's an icon for Microsoft Office. I guess there's a new one coming later in the year. I don't know. I don't use this product. I work in a school with ancient software.
Fancy iPod statue, and two cute boys.
The boys and I left the expo and headed to Old Navy. Just outside the entrance to Macworld, a couple of guys were flying these things, with their iPhones. Pretty cool.

The big Old Navy downtown has a "time out" spot. I took a picture (or two) of the boys there, and then I used my new ToonPAINT app to cartoon it and paint it.

After the boys and I finished at Old Navy, we met back up with Kevin, for lunch. He took the boys back to the expo after lunch, to the Myth Busters thing, and I got the rest of the afternoon to do some shopping, on my own! I just love shopping in downtown San Francisco. Awesome Old Navy, Nordstrom, Gap, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Container Store, Apple Store, and CB2, to name just a few. We finished the evening off with dinner at the inlaws, for my FIL's birthday, and the Winter Olympic opening ceremony. So far it's a great weekend!

Tomorrow, bicycle rodeo at my school, with the scouts.

It's My Friday!!

We have a four day weekend this weekend! Tomorrow was supposed to be a staff development day for me, but since they furloughed three days from us, I don't have staff development tomorrow. Instead, I get the day OFF! Yes! We are going to Macworld tomorrow.
The hills are alive with the color of green. I took this picture at the baseball field today, when I took Quinn to practice. Only too bad for me...his practice is tomorrow, not today. Bummer.
Here's a cute one of Maya this evening. I just love how she always has the one ear up, and the one ear down.

I made some earrings tonight.

Happy day off (if you have one), Happy Valentine's Day, Gung Hay Fat Choy (Happy Chinese New Year), and Happy President's Day!

Valentine Bling

It was Valentine card central here tonight. Quinn had cards to get together, and I had cards to get together, and Riley had cards to get together, but didn't. It seems only two kids in Riley's class were going to bring cards, so he decided not to bring any. It's that whole peer pressure thing. Hey it worked out for me anyway, because Riley had picked out Lego cards, and I got iCarly cards, but when I got them out, they were very glittery and girlie. I thought my male students would not like them, so I broke out the Lego cards for them.

Valentine loot.

Good news! I sold a necklace on Etsy this morning! I am super excited. I plan on mailing it out tomorrow.

Bring It!

Baseball is ON!

Welcome to the craziness that is baseball season. Quinn had his second practice tonight. Here he is running the bases. He's quite fast.

The Big Sleep Over

Busy weekend. I spent all day Saturday getting ready for Quinn's birthday party. We had 6 boys for the party, and 5 of them spent the night. A great time was had by all.
I used the Big Top Cupcake bakeware to make this giant cupcake. It's even filled with chocolate pudding. The cake is not really all that big. I used two cake mixes to fill the molds, and baked the rest into cupcakes. It took an hour to bake.
It's pretty cute though, and Quinn really liked it.
The boys at bedtime. They all got into their pj's (on their own) around 8 and then I got them into bed by 10. They talked for quite awhile and it took a few warnings to get them quiet. They were all asleep before 11, and I didn't even have to take anyone home in the middle of the night.

This morning, there were pancakes for breakfast. Quinn loves pancakes. He ate 5!

He's a Big Man of 8

The big news around here today is that Quinn turned 8! He was so excited this morning, to go to school and pass out his goody bags. He was equally excited to go to Red Robin for dinner tonight with his brother, us and both sets of grandparents. He had a really great day. He's already looking forward to turning 9! Oh but first, the sleep over. Saturday night we will have his party. He's invited 6 boys to spend the night. It looks like only three of them will actually spend the night, which works out for us-he he he. The others coming are just staying for the party part, which is fine. I am not convinced that 7 year old boys are ready to sleep away from their families. Quinn does fine at grandma and grandpa's house, but he hasn't stayed at a friend's house yet. We'll see how it goes. He's super excited. The theme is Ben 10 Alien Force.
Opening a Wii game (Ben 10), at Red Robin. It's one that he picked out with his grandma yesterday, but he was told to act surprised. He did a fine job of that.
Opening presents at home. Here he's thrilled with his Playmobil killer whale.
Excited to open presents! This one is the set of Galactic Heroes he wanted so badly at Christmas.

Last but not least, the Playmobil Sphinx. It took me awhile to locate this one. As you can tell by the action shot, he was pretty thrilled with it.

8 years ago today, I went into labor early in the morning. This was our third trip to the hospital. The first two were false alarms-yeah he is the second child. I was admitted around 8 in the morning and labored, on my own, without drugs, for most of the day. The staff was keeping me pregnant so that my doctor could get there. She arrived, broke my water, said my contractions would pick up (she was NOT kidding), and he was born at 1:20 in the afternoon. I think he would have come much faster if they had broken my water in the morning. My mom was in the room with us, and she cut his cord. He was wide awake, looking at everyone. Cute as could be, all 7 lbs. of him, Quinn Michael Crossman. It was one of the three best days of my life.

Birthday Loot and Almost 8!

So Quinn got to go birthday shopping with his grandma today. He was super excited about it. My mom dropped him off with me, at Riley's orthodontist appointment, when they were finished. Riley got a retainer. It's invisible. I don't think that's fair. I had to wear the metal one! He only has to wear it for 10 hours a day-mostly when he sleeps. It's just keeping the teeth in place until his adult molars come all the way in, then he'll get braces. Anyway, after the appointment, I was taking the boys home and Quinn talked non-stop about the assembly he had at school today. I guess there was some sort of artist who taught the kids to draw. Quinn was mighty impressed. Actually, I think Riley was too. They both kept interrupting each other to talk about it.
Quinn drew a fish-it's adorable!
He drew a snail-yes, also adorable. He also drew a whale and it was, guess what? Adorable. He really is a good drawer. Perhaps a future animator some day?
It's been a stressful week, so imagine how excited I was today, when I got home and saw the mail! I got an AWESOME belated birthday present from my friend, Valerie. There's a cute purse, cute material with kids and hedgehogs and mushrooms and buildings...There were gloves and lip balm, and a cute black house for displaying little things. There were little birds and bird clips and gnomes and bingo cards! Thanks Valerie! I LOVE all of the goodies!

I also got another belated birthday present today! This one is from my friend, Kristi. Wine and a frame and a cupcake and...GIANT NERDS! What an awesome day!

Quinn went to bed, happy as a clam. He'll wake up as an 8 year old tomorrow. He has goody bags to take to school, and we get to go out to dinner at Red Robin with both sets of grandparents. Oh and baseball officially starts tomorrow-Quinn has his first practice, if it doesn't rain.
