Soccer!

Saturday and Sunday were busy soccer days! Quinn's soccer team, Barcelona, participated in the Director's Cup tournament. We had two games Saturday (8:30 and 11:30) and two games Sunday (8:30 and 11:30). After we lost both games on Saturday, we thought we were out of contention, but we were wrong.
Quinn dribbling in pre-game practice.

Running in the game!
Pretty blue sky and a sky-writer. We were lucky to have two beautiful days for our soccer games. Other than the wind, and the glaring sun, it was perfect.
Turns out Barcelona took 2nd place in the tournament! The winnings were based on points, not number of games won. Since they took 2nd place, the qualify to participate in another tournament in December! Quinn is pretty excited about his medal and the next tournament.
Quinn with his cool 2nd place medal. Way to go!

On our way home this evening, after three trips to the field (two for games and the last for the medal), Quinn spied this rainbow in the sky. Cool huh?

Back to work tomorrow, but only for a week, and I don't have yard duty.

It's My Anniversary!

Today Kevin and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary! I can't believe it's been 15 years. I remember our wedding day so clearly. It's the 15 years in between that seem like a whirlwind. These boys are sure growing fast.
Since I have no idea how to use our scanner, I took a picture of our wedding picture. Yeah, I am super high tech.
Kevin went to work and I made some more button bracelets. I still have some more to make before next weekend. I am participating in American High School's Craft Boutique. Looking forward to it, and hoping to sell lots of bracelets!

The boys made Lego versions of Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez. They also played the Wii, played with more Legos, and had fun on their computers. Oh and we all watched a little iCarly.

Riley gave Maya a bath tonight. She smelled like stinky dog. She likes having a bath.

So pretty much it was business as usual on this 15th wedding anniversary, but next month Kevin and I will be headed to Florida to celebrate!

Wishlists and Surprises!

The boys are fine-tuning their Christmas wishlists. Both boys REALLY REALLY want a DSi. They each have the old DS Lite, but they want the newest one. Quinn has been more vocal about this. Kevin told him if he wanted it, then he needs to write a letter to Santa.
This is Quinn's letter to Santa, requesting the DSi. It's sweet. And short.
Here's Quinn getting ready to mail his letter. Kevin took it and mailed it somewhere...I guess to the North Pole. Here's hoping Santa comes through for them.

I got a gift today too! I won this $35 gift card today from Quinn's after school care! I don't win anything, but today that changed! Perhaps I will play the lottery next! I can use it to purchase a turkey for Thanksgiving or Christmas! Or I can buy a whole lot of Margarita mix! Endless possibilities!!

Snowmen

It's not all that exciting around here. We are busy with school and work this week, but tomorrow is my FRIDAY! Short work/school week. I have plans for my days off! I am hoping to sew some clothing for my girls. I need to make the rest of my button bracelets. I need to find my craft room desk-I know it's in there somewhere. Quinn is playing in a soccer tournament this weekend, and his coach wants to have a practice on Thursday. Yeah, no. I think I am staying here. I will go to lunch with Kevin on Friday (Amber India!), for our anniversary. Our anniversary is Thursday, but Friday works better for lunch. The boys have plans with their Legos.

I was out and about running errands today. I found these cute guys at Cost Plus. I think I am feeling ready for Christmas-started my shopping.

Weekend Stuff

It was a very nice weekend around here. We had no set plans at all, and it was nice.
I got our living room clean from top to bottom. All Halloween items are put away, ready for next year. I kept out only faceless pumpkins for Thanksgiving.
The kitchen is clean too, and the counters are dusted and wiped clean. I am still working on our desk area, and the island contains bracelet makings right now.
We headed to the Valley Fair Mall last night for dinner and a trip to the Apple store.
I applied these sticky decals to the hallway wall. I like the way they look, now if only they will stay stuck.

I did some planning for school-5 weeks of planning. I have a student going on an independent study, in two weeks. I had to plan what he will miss during those two weeks. In order to do that, I had to plan the two weeks prior. I planned for 5, because his last week of I.S is the week that I am out on vacation, so I planned the week after I get back-to make it easier on me. It's all planned. Tomorrow I will start the copying, and then I get to figure out where I am going to store all of that paperwork. I can't just copy for him-waste of time. If I am going to do it, I may as well do it all. I am not a fan of independent studies. It's a huge amount of work, and if the work does not come back on the day the student returns, NONE of it counts. At least it's only 10 days. Our district used to do 20 days! It was a nightmare.

We also made it to the movies this weekend to see Megamind-it was ok. We stopped and dropped off the Scout popcorn my in-laws ordered, and we all went out to dinner. Oh and it rained a ton today. It was a nice weekend. This is a very school week-three days! We get Thursday off for Veteran's Day, and Friday off because the district furloughed us. Oh well, I am looking forward to 4 days off, and Quinn's soccer tournament this weekend.

Friday Random Stuff

Happy Friday! I am so happy it's Friday. It's been a long week-and I even had a day off! Drama drama drama. Girls are a mystery to me, and the ones in my class generate a LOT of drama. Tons. So and so did this, so and so did that, so and so said she's not my friend. AHHHH! It's nice to have a break. Next week is a short week too! We have Veteran's Day off, and also the 12th, but that's because our school district furloughed us. I'm not happy I am not getting paid, but at least I don't have to work. This is a really tough school year. Perhaps it will be better next school year. Our city passed a parcel tax for Fremont schools, so now the district is sitting on a whole lot of money. We are hoping to get some things back-more prep, and less kids. Anyway, here's a lot of random stuff for you...
I made a different kind of button bracelet. I am going to make some more of them too. Did I mention that I am participating in the local high school's holiday boutique? My $60 fee is supporting the Class of 2011's Grad Night. I've made a jillion of my regular button bracelets. I will make some of these too.
We made flash cards for our non-English speaker yesterday. Aren't they cute? I told everyone what I wanted them to look for-most were up to the task, except for my group of "I can'ts." Even my non-English speaker made one! In the end, they did a great job. We are going to start practicing them with her, a few at a time, until she knows them. My next plan is to label the entire classroom. I'll get the kids on that next week.
When I arrived at school today, one of my students made me this picture. Isn't it cute? She's got my standard jeans down to a tee, oh and my whistle. Is my hair really that blonde? At least she thinks I am the best teacher ever. EVER. Mostly I don't feel it, but I am happy that she's happy at school. Obviously I am reaching her.
LOOK AT THE SKY! I just love a sky like this. I apologize for the parking lot picture. It was a lot more impressive on the overpass, up high, but I think the CHP would have frowned on me stopping to take a picture.

I went to Michael's and Kevin took the boys to Lucky, for some cat food. This display is inside the Lucky store. Cute huh? Kevin took it, and texted it to me. Those boys sure are cute too!

Enjoy your weekend all! I have Halloween stuff to put away (still), and we hope to catch Megamind this weekend.

I Love A Parade!

Well, the Giants have done it! They have won the World Series. I think there were a lot of people who thought it wouldn't happen, but these guys really pulled it together. The playoffs and the World Series games were some of the most exciting games ever. I am already looking forward to next season. Today was the celebration parade for the Giants, and I really really wanted to go, so I did! It was so worth the planning I had to do for a substitute.
Even Macy's got into the action! They had another sign on the side of the Men's Macy's.
Britex Fabrics got into Giants Fever as well, with an orange and black window display.
There were LOTS and LOTS of Giants fans. LOTS.
Balloons! This is the first turn on the parade route, from where the parade started.
I stood on Market Street and watched the parade. It was AWESOME! I can't believe the amount of people that skipped work, and school, to attend. It was very peaceful too. Everyone was really happy.
11:00 am, time for the parade to start!
One of the first floats with the Fist Bump guys on it, and Kettle Corn. (?)
Look! I got a picture of Cody Ross! I held my camera up high and took a picture. I got totally lucky! It's a little blurry, but you can tell who it is!
Ticker tape galore. This was being dropped even before the parade started.

Aubrey Huff's ride, which he shared with Pat Burrell-that's Pat the Bat, not Huff.

It was totally fun, but I am super tired now. I was on my feet for over 4 hours, and I had to maneuver thousands of people to get there and back, on public transportation. I am so glad I did it that way, instead of driving. Back to reality tomorrow though.
