My Last Weekday of Spring Break

It's official, my spring break ends Sunday-well, really today. Baseball starts back up again tomorrow, so that signals the end of my break, and the beginning of regular life. Big sigh, head hanging low. BUT, there are only 9 weeks left of the school year, so I'm pretty excited about that!
I had plans to stay inside all day, but alas, I had to go to Jo-Ann's to get interfacing for the tote bag I am making. It took me forever to cut out all of the pieces-and that is so boring too.
This is the lining, with the inside pocket sewn on it. I still have a ways to go. I had wanted to finish it today, but it's just not going to happen. Took me forever to cut the pieces and then I had to make box corners. I had never done that before. I won't really know if I did them correctly until I get the bag together. Oh, and I'm using an Anna Maria Horner pattern, and fabrics. I am actually making the exact bag as one of the sample pictures. I really liked the colors. I'll show you the finished bag, when it's, you guessed it, finished!
Look what my BFF and I did yesterday! We picked a date to see "Wicked." I am taking her (June 18) for her birthday. I am beyond excited, and I think she is too! I'm telling you people, it's AWESOME! Go someplace to see it!

Here's what Riley did tonight. Now that he's a full fledged Boy Scout, he had to work his shift at the Elk's Lodge. He and two other boys bussed tables. They earned money too! It goes into a scout account (I'm a poet and don't even know it) for future use. He was thrilled with his $12.00, and I think, pleased as punch with his "job."

Word of the day: Sewing, or maybe the word should be cutting. I seemed to do more of that today, then the actual sewing. There's always tomorrow.

Friday Foto Finish Fiesta!

I haven't played Carrie's Friday Foto Finish Fiesta for awhile, so I thought I would play along.
This is not a picture of my boys (but they are pretty cute), or my cats (they are also kinda cute), or even of my latest shopping spree. Instead, may I present the president of the United States of America...

Hello Mr. President! Thank you for all of the kisses, and for our tax returns! You so totally ROCK! Was it you who arranged for both checks to arrive on the same day? Awesome! That was really a nice touch. It was also really nice of the state of California to have the money to pay our refund! Thanks for everything Mr. President.

Wicked!

As you know, especially if you have been on Facebook, that my mom and I went to see "Wicked" in San Francisco last night. It was AWESOME! I left the show feeling so bummed that I can't sing to save my life! Oh how I wish I could sing. At least someone can, and sing they did! It was AWESOME! Just AWESOME!
This giant poster/sign is hanging on the back of the theatre.
The Orpheum is right on Market Street, near the Civic Center. It was a hustle and bustle of trolley cars, buses, people, and emergency vehicles-loud emergency vehicles.
We stood in the entry, waiting to go inside. We were very early. We took BART. It wasn't so bad. There was a train very soon after we got to the station, and we got right into the city. The exit is right in front of the theatre, so it was pretty easy. It wasn't even so bad going home. We had to wait, but we were able to sit-as opposed to having to stand until seats freed up. We transferred, and were able to sit again! Easy peasy.
Here's my mom and I. No, I am not pregnant. It was quite windy, and I think the wind got under my shirt, making me appear pregnant, but I assure you, I am not. The nice security guard took this picture for us. He had a really cool bright orange jacket.

Look at the ceiling in the entry way. Pretty huh? You should have seen the ceiling inside the theatre. I wanted to take a picture, but they have these guys running all over the place with little signs that say, "absolutely no photography." I am a rule follower, but the guy next to us? Not so much. It was a great, great, excellent show! The young girl sitting next to me really smelled badly, but I overcame that, and still enjoyed the show. What? She did. Just saying. If you get a chance, you should see the show! It is AWESOME! Patty Duke played Madame Morrible at our show. She's so tiny. The two girls who play the witches, have amazing voices! It's just such a great show. Go see it for yourself! I am buying tickets today, to see it again!

Word for the day: Bowling. We are headed out for lunch and bowling today, with friends.

Stanford

I HAD to go to Macy's at Stanford today. They had a blouse I really wanted, and I liked it, but it was silk. I just don't think silk figures into my wardrobe, so I left it there instead. We did make it to Sprinkles though, a cupcake store at Stanford Shopping Center. See Michelle?
4 cupcakes at a cost of $13.00. That's kinda pricey. Here are the flavors: Chocolate with red dot is chocolate and marshmallow, white with red dot is red velvet (that's MINE), chocolate sprinkles is peanut butter and chocolate, and the white with chocolate sprinkles is black and white. Quinn didn't like his peanut butter cupcake. I tasted it, it's OK. None of the rest of us have tried our cupcakes yet.
Since we were in the neighborhood, we illegally parked, and visited Stanford University. It's so pretty. Riley has decided that he wants to go to school here. I told him, "get a scholarship."
This is Stanford Memorial Church. Kevin and I got married here on November 11, 1995. Ahh, memories.
Quinn is just too cool for this picture. I swear the boy cannot just smile for a picture. It's always a full on pose.

What's he doing now? He looks terrified. Riley has the silly smile thing down. The rest of our Stanford pictures? You guessed it, Flickr.

Word for the day: Wicked! My mom and I are going to see "Wicked" tonight in SF. We are so excited. We are taking the stupid BART. I really really hate BART. I think it's way too expensive. I hate to transfer, and I hate that after the show it will be so crowded trying to get on a train, that there won't be anyplace to sit. Oh well, at least we are going green. I scoped out the area yesterday, when I was in the city. The one parking garage is kind of far away, and it's not the best area to be walking in. Plus, there are only 40 spaces. We didn't want to chance not being able to find street parking, so we are taking BART.  I will match the "Wicked" colors tonight. My outfit is black and white, with a splash of green. I'm not trying to be a "Wicked" geek, but that is my favorite color green. If I look like a geek, so be it. I'll defy gravity too-little bit of "Wicked" humor.

Day of Shopping!

I did some shopping in San Francisco today, all by myself.
Here's a cable car, coming down Powell street, through Union Square. There were people out and about, despite the absence of people/cars from my picture.
I visited Britex Fabrics. 4 floors of fabric, trim, notions, buttons, and more fabric.
The view of Bloomies from Market Street.
Inside the BEST Anthropologie store, ever! It's 2  1/2 levels of beautifulness!

This is the ceiling in the new mall area of the San Francisco Shopping Centre. It used to be the Emporium Capwell building. The ceiling/windows were kept, when the building was remodeled. It's quite impressive. I might share some more of my pictures tomorrow, but if you can't wait, go see them on Flickr. I have a link to my photos on the right, under "Family Love."

Word of the Day: Fun. I had a fun day. I got to go where I wanted, when I wanted, and I got to stay at those places for as long as I wanted. Awesome.

Ooops, I forgot one!

I mentioned it was really sunny and warm yesterday. Well, we all slathered ourselves in sunscreen, but I forgot my feet/legs. Oooops.

Can you see the sunburn? It's much redder in person. It burns, and I am going to have some groovy tan lines.

See post below for the Word of the Day.

More Pictures From Yesterday

We met up with Kevin's family at a tennis/swim club, for Easter lunch. We had ham and tiny burgers, potato salad, fruit, bunny bread, and chips & dip. It was yummy. The weather was great, and everyone had fun.
Quinn cleaned up all of his uncle's tennis balls. That machine is bigger than Quinn! He loved it though, and proved to be a great driver.
Riley, wishing his mother had brought his swimsuit. See yesterday's post about that.
The play structure at the club. Did I tell you that we had the whole place to ourselves? Nobody showed up at all, until we were packing up for home.

Kevin in front of the tiki, which is in the front of the club.

Word of the day: Reorganize. I have been moving things around in my laundry room. I need more space to store my fabrics. I got rid of lots of old Play-doh, and cleaned out some other crap. I now have two entire cabinets for my fabric. The only problem is how to get rid of the Play-doh smell. I sprayed some perfume, and have left the cabinet open. I'll load it later.

Oh, and for those of you interested, I updated Flickr with more pictures from Easter morning.
