We headed out this morning for Santa Cruz. We stopped at our friends' house in Santa Cruz first, to pick up our "tour guide," Jim, for the day. Then we headed for Natural Bridges State Beach. It is supposed to be monarch butterfly season. They migrate in and hang from the eucalyptus trees and snack on milkweed. Well, there wasn't ONE butterfly. Apparently, they have all packed up already. Bummer. Oh well, at least we got to enjoy the beach!
Quinn, always striking a pose. I don't think he can pose normally. He has to stage every one of his pictures.
Natural Bridges-or maybe that should be Natural Bridge, since there's only the one left. Isn't it pretty though? There are all kinds of birds on top of the rocks.
This is the second attempt at this picture. The first time, we all had to run because the waves came rushing up and around those rocks the boys are standing on.
We had lunch on the wharf near the boardwalk. We ate at a place called "Olita's." Pretty good Mexican food, and really good salsa! Birds freak me out, but I like how they are all flying around this part of the wharf. Probably someone was catching fish over there and they were all "mine, mine, mine."
The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Lots of rides and carnival games. A fun place in the summer. They were open, but it was really cold there today, and the clouds were dripping. Darn light pole ruined my shot!
Thanks Jim for the tour! It was lots of fun. Thanks Rochelle for joining us for lunch. We are sad that you have a bum foot.
Word for the day: Enjoyable. It's always fun to get out and see the area in which we live, and spend time together.
